ATB’s Platelet & Rue Maple among a host of Darren Weir chances at Flemington
Leading trainer Darren Weir heads to Flemington tomorrow with a number of well fancied runners who have genuine winning chances, and Australian Throughbred Bloodstock’s Darren & Liz Dance will be hoping classy ATB gallopers Platelet and Rue Maple are among them.
All of Weir’s runners are well fancied in early betting markets at Australia’s premier horse racing bookmaker IASbet and the online bookmaker will be offering a guaranteed better win dividend than any of the three TABs at Flemington on Saturday.
Consistent Strategic 3yo Platelet opened $2.80 at IASbet for the Tattsbet.com.au Handicap, Race 2 on the program, and has since firmed into her current price of $2.60.
Platelet has had three runs this time in and will prove very hard to beat back against her own kind.

Five-year-old mare Rue Maple won’t know herself with just 52.5 kilograms in Race 5 on the card, the Caffeto Sprint.
Jockey Damian Lane’s 1.5kg claim allows Rue Maple to carry 1.5kgs under the minimum weight on Saturday and she was installed a $2.60 favourite in opening markets at IASbet.
The daughter of Rubiton has since been backed into $2.50 and is clearly the punter’s elect in early betting.
It’s worth noting that Rue Maple finished second on multiple occasions last spring to last week’s Stradbroke Handicap winner Mid Summer Music and that’s a handy form reference.
Rue Maple was beaten last start at Caulfield by the very smart Soft Sand and will appreciate any sting out of the ground at Flemington.

Both Platelet & Rue Maple have excellent chances at Flemington on Saturday and you can get around $6.50 for the double from IASbet.
Darren Weir’s other Flemington runners include The Night’s Hot, a $3.30 favourite in Race 3, Magnifique Soleil, a $5.00 second favourite in Race 4, and last start Flemington winner Manhattan Rain, a $7.50 third favourite in Race 7 on the card.
