The Melbourne Spring carnival was a great result for Australian Thoroughbred Bloodstock with Dr Doutes winning twice of the Carnival, firstly at Flemington in a 3 yr old handicap and then at Flemington on Derby day where he took out the Group Three Carbine Club stakes taking his prizemoney to $295,000 with 4 wins from just 6 starts. Dr Doutes, a son of Redoutes Choice from the Dr Grace mare, No Limit, was bred by Darren & Elizabeth Dance of Australian Thoroughbred Bloodstock and sold at the Magic Millions sales in Adelaide for $150,000 to trainer Mark Kavanagh.

Bird of Fire (by Stravinsky) a New Zealand purchase for $40,000, also won twice, first deadheating at Moonee Valley on Cox Plate day in the Inglis Mile- listed and then on Emirates Day at Flemington winning the Matriach Group 2 for mares, taking her record to 20 starts for 4 wins and $376,000 in prizemoney. Congratulations to long time owners Barry and Denise Stokes. He is trained at Caulfield by Tony Vasil.
